3rd Ultrasound Scan (FTS/Blood Test): 13 weeks

My private gynae (Dr Hii) recommended me to do the Panorama Test for Down Syndrome at his clinic when baby was 10 weeks, this test is able to find out the baby gender too (yes, as early as 10 weeks!). That advanced test costs $1000 (99% detection rate).
But my friend explained to me, that i'm below 35 years old, so the chance of down syndrome babies is lesser. Dont have to spend that much money, so she suggested me to go to KKH for FTS test instead, which is way cheaper under government subsidiary.

PS: You NEED to go any Polyclinic for a referral letter to KKH to be considered under the government subsidised patients.

So here i am....

First trimester screening is a combination of tests completed between 11 weeks and 13 weeks 6 days of pregnancy. It is used to look for certain birth defects related to the baby's heart or chromosomal disorders, such as Down syndrome. This screen includes a maternal blood test and an ultrasound.

Not 100% , but 90% detection rate.

Went through the scan and blood tests.
Ultrasound scans are able to detect and show result on the spot, but for blood test, gotta wait for like 3 days. If no calls from KKH, is good news.

So yep! No calls! No news is good news!

Mommy heard your heartbeat at 155 bpm!

First/New consultation + ultrasound scan = S$87 (Subsidised)
FTS (Ultrasound scan + blood test) @ KKH = S$277.50 (Subsidised)
Supplements (Fish oil, Multivitamins, Lozenges, cough syrup, EVOhaler) = S$93.80
[Supplements for 2 months]

Total Damage: S$458.30

Afterall, being a subsidized patient in a Govt hospital really save alot $$$. So especially for single moms or any other moms who wanna save $$$, if you prefer private gynae, but wanna save costs, go to KKH for 'special' tests and scans like these. Then bring these reports back to your private gynae. Dr Hii knows that i'm a single mom-to-be, so he also understands the part that i wanna save money if i can, and said i could compare the prices and go to govt hospital for special tests as it's cheaper there. But for usual monthly scans i will go to my private gynae. KKH will schedule you for next appointment monthly NORMAL scans, you can choose not to go if you're going to your private gynae, and only choose to go if KKH appointment is a "special" scan like detailed scan at 22 weeks. like for the blood test i just took, it's $100+ at KKH, but would cost abt $300+ at my private clinic. So i choose to go KKH for that same kind of test. Just my 2 cents to help mommies out there.

Stopping Lactation: Dostinex

Yes. I decided to give up breastfeeding.   Because it's eating away my sleep and health, mentally and physically.  People always say, " breastfeeding is the best for your child and try to breastfeed as long as possible, at least 6 months ". Well, it's easier said than done . Now that I've experienced breastfeeding, I'd really admire those mums who actually breastfed for months or years. It's so so so tough and tiring, I swear. For those who don't understand and never knew what's the life of a breastfeeding mom...  Here's an example (newborn).  1am baby sleep. Mummy sleep.  3am baby cry. feeding time  (Latch: 30-40 mins. Or Bottle: 5 mins prepare and warm milk, feed 20-30 mins.) 3.35am burp baby. 3.40am   change baby diaper. 3.45am put baby to sleep 3.50am pump out (remaining) breast milk. 4.20am done pump. Prepare storage. 4.25am store breast milk in fridge. Wash up breast pump and sterilize. 4.35am Sleep.

Hospital Bag Checklist

The Hospital Bag Checklist for delivering in Singapore When should you pack your maternity hospital bag? Try to pack at least 3 weeks before your due date, as it's better to be ready-to-go instead of panicking when the water bag breaks unexpectedly or if the painful contractions finally visits you and by then you won't be able to think properly of what to bring to hospital.  What to pack in your hospital bag? Well, it depends on what amenities and items are already included in your hospital maternity package though. I will be delivering at Mount Alvernia Hospital , and these are the stuffs that's included in the maternity package... Mount Alvenia Maternity packages include the following: Lodging, inclusive of meals (Normal delivery - 3D2N / C-Section - 4D3N) Labour Ward charges or Operating Theatre charges (depending on type of delivery) Nursery charges Daily treatment fee for Nursing services Baby's immunization (BCG, 1st dose of Hep B and Vitamin
