Root Canal + Crowning to fix Chipped Tooth for a 23 months old

When my girl was one month away from turning two,
she chipped her front tooth while she was playing with a ball.

It broke my heart seeing her beautiful teeth ended up like this.
Her swelling of her upper lip was reduced in a day (luckily). However, she had problem eating and drinking well. That chipped tooth has become too sensitive for anything hot or cold due to the exposure of nerve.
So I brought her to Petite Smiles (Children's Dental Clinic).

Not forgetting about Safe Distancing.......

Waiting area......

I was struggling with my hyperactive girl inside the treatment room, so i could not take a photo of the super nice kiddy treatment room. I only managed to find this picture in Google.
Dr Ng Jing Jing checked her chipped tooth, and gave me 2 options.
- Extraction; Remove the chipped tooth and let it be until about 5 years later for her permanent tooth to grow (will be done at the clinic itself)
- Root Canal + Crowning; Remove the affected nerve, and insert crowning so that she can still save her tooth and won't be toothless in the front

This is so hard to decide. There are so many circumstances I need to consider.
Extraction
Pros
- Simple procedure, don't have to put her under GA.
Cons
- It's difficult to hold a struggling girl down through out the procedure
- She will be toothless in the front for so many years; other kids may laugh at her and will affect her self confidence which is important is her growing up stage
- I'm afraid she will face issues in her pronunciation since she is too young and is learning how to speak
- I'm afraid her other teeth may move into where the gap is, which will eventually cause crooked permanent teeth when they grow out

Root Canal + Crowning
Pros
- She won't be toothless; no one will laugh at her "bo geh"
- Don't need to worry about her learning to speak and pronounce words inaccurately due to being toothless
- There won't be a gap or room for other teeth to move in
Con
- She has to be placed under GA (general anesthesia) for the treatment/procedures.

After taking all the Pros and Cons in consideration,
I decided to go for Root Canal + Crowning

So Dr Ng referred me to Dr Terry Teo at Q&M Dental on the same day.

Arriving at Q&M Dental for Kids........
We were greeted with friendly receptionist and some toys at the waiting area.
Pediatric Dentist would dress themselves up in cute top to appear kiddy to the kids. His treatment room is also filled with cartoons all over the room, and also free gifts to make the kids happy. There is a TV playing Cartoon on the ceiling, so when kids are laying down, having their teeth checked, they can actually watch cartoon on the ceiling! How creative! He also has a mini fish tank which distracted my girl. Dr Terry Teo is very friendly and nice too.

So this is the Quotation.

At this moment, I feel SO LUCKY that I had previously bought Insurance (accident) plan for her, which is fully claimable. If not, I would be guilty trying to consider between this or that treatment.
For all the Daddies and Mummies out there reading this, if you haven't buy Insurance plans for your child, please do so.... Don't play play!

Few days later, it's the day we say goodbye to her half-chipped tooth!

This is the smallest and cutest treatment gown that I've seen
And the nurse tried to cheer her up by making a glove into a balloon with smiley! So sweet..

Jiayou my love.
I had to hold her while the nurse let her inhale the anesthesia, the feeling of seeing my active struggling girl, soon starts to lose strength and lastly stopped moving, in my arms, broke my heart.
But I can only pray that it will all turn out great.

Nurse told me procedure takes about 45 minutes.
So i went to Toys "R" Us to grab a new plush for her, as a reward of being strong.

Here she is. Feeling so drowsy, crying for mummy.
But went back to sleep again as soon as I carried her out from the treatment room.

On the way home....... with her "new" tooth!

Here's her pretty smile again.

All i can say and share is that.... I never regret choosing this option.

Stopping Lactation: Dostinex

Yes. I decided to give up breastfeeding.   Because it's eating away my sleep and health, mentally and physically.  People always say, " breastfeeding is the best for your child and try to breastfeed as long as possible, at least 6 months ". Well, it's easier said than done . Now that I've experienced breastfeeding, I'd really admire those mums who actually breastfed for months or years. It's so so so tough and tiring, I swear. For those who don't understand and never knew what's the life of a breastfeeding mom...  Here's an example (newborn).  1am baby sleep. Mummy sleep.  3am baby cry. feeding time  (Latch: 30-40 mins. Or Bottle: 5 mins prepare and warm milk, feed 20-30 mins.) 3.35am burp baby. 3.40am   change baby diaper. 3.45am put baby to sleep 3.50am pump out (remaining) breast milk. 4.20am done pump. Prepare storage. 4.25am store breast milk in fridge. Wash up breast pump and sterilize. 4.35am Sleep.

Hospital Bag Checklist

The Hospital Bag Checklist for delivering in Singapore When should you pack your maternity hospital bag? Try to pack at least 3 weeks before your due date, as it's better to be ready-to-go instead of panicking when the water bag breaks unexpectedly or if the painful contractions finally visits you and by then you won't be able to think properly of what to bring to hospital.  What to pack in your hospital bag? Well, it depends on what amenities and items are already included in your hospital maternity package though. I will be delivering at Mount Alvernia Hospital , and these are the stuffs that's included in the maternity package... Mount Alvenia Maternity packages include the following: Lodging, inclusive of meals (Normal delivery - 3D2N / C-Section - 4D3N) Labour Ward charges or Operating Theatre charges (depending on type of delivery) Nursery charges Daily treatment fee for Nursing services Baby's immunization (BCG, 1st dose of Hep B and Vitamin
