Post-Delivery: Cesarean Stitch Removal

Visited Dr Hii to remove my Cesarean Section sutures/stitches. To my surprise, the suture removal was painless and fast, like 1 second, cut and pull out, that's it. I realised Dr Hii's stitching skill is good. the incision and wound looks nicer than I thought. haha.   Was given Dermatix Ultra to apply on the wound. This is well known for it's scar reduction effect and it's useful for surgical scars. I also asked Dr Hii if there's any medication to help boost my milk supply. He then prescribed me Maxolon .  Total Damage: $230.05

My Birth Delivery & Hospital Stay Diary...

[ DAY 1 ] 5am : I was asleep. Waterbag broke. ( blood red water mixture gushing out from time to time.) No contractions, yet. 5.20am : Called the 24hrs hotline whereby the operator transferred my call to my doctor. Dr Hii then advised me to admit to hospital. (For what i know, waterbag leakage are of colourless or maybe a tint of pink, but mine was bloody red. So I asked the operator if my bright red water leakage is normal, she said yes. So i took her words, and took my time to get prepared to go to the hospital. Read on to find out why I regretted taking her words). 6am : Breakfast (Bread and Milo). A last bumpie shot. I'm gonna miss your little movements inside me... 6.30am : Left home. Brother drove me to Mount Alvernia Hospital (MAH). 7am : Arrived at MAH. 7.05am : Changed into Hospital gown. Admitted to Labour Ward. Blood pressure taken. Temperature taken. Baby's heartbeat monitor and contractions tracker strapped on. 7.15am : Business office staff...

The "Don'ts" That I Did...

There are many sayings of the Do's & Don'ts in Pregnancy. Cannot eat this, cannot eat that. Cannot do this, cannot do that. Sounds familiar? Haha. Here I'm gonna share those food that I ate which was told not to eat, and those things that I did which was told not to do. Also, I'm gonna share what I ate, from which stage, to help with pregnancy. BUT, please note, I didn't just go against the pregnancy rules blindly. I would usually google for scientific evidence or doctor's advice before proceeding to do what many 'old wives tales' said not to. After first trimester: soft boiled/onsen egg  This is the ONLY half-cooked food that I eat. AFTER first trimester of course. 12 weeks: Coloured hair (Brand: Berina) 12 weeks onwards: Foot and Shoulder/Back massage (fortnightly) Do let the masseur know that YOU ARE PREGNANT. So that they don't punch/pound on your legs or back, which may cause harm to your unborn. Just massaging is fi...

14th Ultrasound Scan: 38 weeks

Mini Rain is weighing at 3kg (+/- 444g) . Dr Hii checked my cervix opening using transvaginal ultrasound and mentioned something about " 3 cm ". I wasn't sure if he meant the cervix has already opened 3cm but i thought if the cervix is dilated, means its going into labour? Then i came to realise and understand perhaps the doctor meant the thickness of cervix opening is 3 cm, and he said " at least 1 week or more to go... ".

Hospital Bag Checklist

The Hospital Bag Checklist for delivering in Singapore When should you pack your maternity hospital bag? Try to pack at least 3 weeks before your due date, as it's better to be ready-to-go instead of panicking when the water bag breaks unexpectedly or if the painful contractions finally visits you and by then you won't be able to think properly of what to bring to hospital.  What to pack in your hospital bag? Well, it depends on what amenities and items are already included in your hospital maternity package though. I will be delivering at Mount Alvernia Hospital , and these are the stuffs that's included in the maternity package... Mount Alvenia Maternity packages include the following: Lodging, inclusive of meals (Normal delivery - 3D2N / C-Section - 4D3N) Labour Ward charges or Operating Theatre charges (depending on type of delivery) Nursery charges Daily treatment fee for Nursing services Baby's immunization (BCG, 1st dose of Hep B and Vitamin ...

13th Ultrasound Scan: 37 weeks (Monilia - Yeast Infection)

High Vaginal Swab (HVS) test result... Monilia: Present What is Monilia? Monilia is essentially a normal yeast infection. Is this common in pregnancy? Yeast infections are especially common during pregnancy because hormone changes can disrupt the pH balance of the vagina. Can a yeast infection hurt my unborn baby? No, a yeast infection won't hurt or affect your developing baby. But if you have a  infection when you go into labor, there's a chance that your newborn will contract it as he passes through the birth canal. If that happens, he may develop a yeast infection in his mouth, known as thrush. Solution? Yeast infection during pregnancy is common. Mild cases, the infection would go away itself. Drink more water, cut down on sugars etc. But for my case, delivery date is just around the corner. So medical treatment is necessary. Canesten Vaginal tab 0.5g Total Damage: S$26.75 (S$25 + GST) Other than this issue, baby is healthy! Still weighing at 2.9kg ...
