The "Don'ts" That I Did...

There are many sayings of the Do's & Don'ts in Pregnancy.
Cannot eat this, cannot eat that. Cannot do this, cannot do that.
Sounds familiar? Haha.
Here I'm gonna share those food that I ate which was told not to eat,
and those things that I did which was told not to do.
Also, I'm gonna share what I ate, from which stage, to help with pregnancy.
BUT, please note, I didn't just go against the pregnancy rules blindly.
I would usually google for scientific evidence or doctor's advice before proceeding to do what many 'old wives tales' said not to.

After first trimester: soft boiled/onsen egg
This is the ONLY half-cooked food that I eat. AFTER first trimester of course.

12 weeks: Coloured hair (Brand: Berina)

12 weeks onwards: Foot and Shoulder/Back massage (fortnightly)
Do let the masseur know that YOU ARE PREGNANT. So that they don't punch/pound on your legs or back, which may cause harm to your unborn. Just massaging is fine. Especially when you are like me, someone who goes for massages often even before pregnancy.

18 weeks onwards: Riped Thai Honey Mangoes (average 3-4/week)
Helps me ALOT in my constipation!
(But watch out on your diabetes diet if you have it.)

19 weeks: Gelish Manicure and Pedicure (once)

20 weeks - 28 weeks: Bottled Bird's Nest (1 bottle/week)

26 weeks onwards: LXZ Premium Boiled Chicken Essence (once every 2 days)
Contains protein for your unborn growth needs!
Read more about LXZ's Chicken Essence and my review on it HERE

31 weeks onwards: 100% Pure Bird's Nest (home brewed) (twice a week)
Bird's nest is believed to have nourishing properties and is generally regarded as safe for mothers-to-be to consume during pregnancy. However, there is still lack of scientific evidence to show the health benefits of consuming bird's nest during pregnancy. But, I just eat la! haha.

32 weeks: Coloured hair (Brand: La Riche Directions)
La Riche Directions semi permanent dye is non-toxic, non-chemical, and has lots of crazy fun colours to play around with. (Well i was able to get these purple & pink colours on my hair, is because my hair was already blonde previously, so i didn't bleach.) I coloured because i'm going for Maternity Photoshoot.

32 weeks onwards: Sweet Pineapples (fortnightly, small portion)
i love these sweet baby pineapples from Thailand. it's okay to eat in moderation, but not huge portions unless you are getting near to your EDD (expected due date). So after i'm 8 months into pregnancy, I would eat abit of pineapples (baby or normal sized) from my mother's plate, about once in 2 weeks. But DON'T eat pineapple during the early stage of pregnancy, especially first trimester.

34 weeks onwards: Young Coconut drink
34 weeks - 35 weeks+ (once a week)
36 weeks - 37 weeks+ (thrice a week)
38 weeks onwards (everyday)
YOUNG ones. Not old ones ya.
Coconut is proven to have many benefits during pregnancy. But many people said not to drink or eat cooling stuffs especially during the earlier stage of pregnancy. Many would recommend drinking young coconut drink (fresh ones, not from cans or bottles) from 32 weeks onward, about once a week. and during the last month of pregnancy, drink 2-3 times a week. It was said that this will help in "cleansing", and when you give birth, you will have a "clean" baby. But there's still no evidence on that. Anyway, I just drink la. haha.
(Fresh young coconut can be bought from Sheng Siong and NTUC Fairprice, but not all outlets though. Price is about $2+)

When i reached 36 weeks, i got lazy drinking from fresh coconut and moreover, it's not cheap. so I started drinking this UFC Refresh Coconut Water as well. It does not contain preservatives and no added sugar. I've compared all the packed coconut drink and this UFC brand seems to be the best among all. 100% pure coconut water.

Occasionally throughout pregnancy:
Cold drinks (canned chrysanthemum drink, iced honey, soft drinks like root beer)
Cold desserts (cold cheng tng, ice kachang, bingsu, cendol etc)
KOI (Ice cream milk tea or Cocoa Barry)
Ice cream (Both soft serve and regular frozen ice cream)

(I don't have Gestational (Pregnancy) Diabetes, so it's fine for me.
Do watch out on your own diet if you have risks for GD before whacking the sweet stuffs)

Stopping Lactation: Dostinex

Yes. I decided to give up breastfeeding.   Because it's eating away my sleep and health, mentally and physically.  People always say, " breastfeeding is the best for your child and try to breastfeed as long as possible, at least 6 months ". Well, it's easier said than done . Now that I've experienced breastfeeding, I'd really admire those mums who actually breastfed for months or years. It's so so so tough and tiring, I swear. For those who don't understand and never knew what's the life of a breastfeeding mom...  Here's an example (newborn).  1am baby sleep. Mummy sleep.  3am baby cry. feeding time  (Latch: 30-40 mins. Or Bottle: 5 mins prepare and warm milk, feed 20-30 mins.) 3.35am burp baby. 3.40am   change baby diaper. 3.45am put baby to sleep 3.50am pump out (remaining) breast milk. 4.20am done pump. Prepare storage. 4.25am store breast milk in fridge. Wash up breast pump and sterilize. 4.35am Sleep....

Hospital Bag Checklist

The Hospital Bag Checklist for delivering in Singapore When should you pack your maternity hospital bag? Try to pack at least 3 weeks before your due date, as it's better to be ready-to-go instead of panicking when the water bag breaks unexpectedly or if the painful contractions finally visits you and by then you won't be able to think properly of what to bring to hospital.  What to pack in your hospital bag? Well, it depends on what amenities and items are already included in your hospital maternity package though. I will be delivering at Mount Alvernia Hospital , and these are the stuffs that's included in the maternity package... Mount Alvenia Maternity packages include the following: Lodging, inclusive of meals (Normal delivery - 3D2N / C-Section - 4D3N) Labour Ward charges or Operating Theatre charges (depending on type of delivery) Nursery charges Daily treatment fee for Nursing services Baby's immunization (BCG, 1st dose of Hep B and Vitamin ...
