There are lots of reasons why women become single parents. Whether you chose to walk the path of parenthood alone, or have unexpectedly ended up in this situation, you may feel worried about how you will face pregnancy, birth and motherhood without the support of a partner. At other times you may feel confident, empowered, and ready to take on the world as a single parent. Mixed emotions are normal during pregnancy, and you will experience good days and bad. Pregnancy is a daunting time, but single pregnancy can be that little bit harder to navigate as you deal with worries and major decisions alone. The following tips may help you to survive pregnancy as a single woman: Single and Pregnant Tip #1: Accept Help  You really don’t need to do this all on your own. You don’t need to prove anything to anyone. All you need, is for you and your baby to be happy and healthy, and that means you might need to accept help every now and then. If you are suffering with morning sickness,...

3rd Ultrasound Scan (FTS/Blood Test): 13 weeks

My private gynae (Dr Hii) recommended me to do the Panorama Test for Down Syndrome at his clinic when baby was 10 weeks, this test is able to find out the baby gender too (yes, as early as 10 weeks!). That advanced test costs $1000 (99% detection rate). But my friend explained to me, that i'm below 35 years old, so the chance of down syndrome babies is lesser. Dont have to spend that much money, so she suggested me to go to KKH for FTS test instead, which is way cheaper under government subsidiary. PS: You NEED to go any Polyclinic for a referral letter to KKH to be considered under the government subsidised patients.  So here i am.... First trimester screening is a combination of tests completed between 11 weeks and 13 weeks 6 days of pregnancy. It is used to look for certain birth defects related to the baby's heart or chromosomal disorders, such as Down syndrome. This screen includes a maternal blood test and an ultrasound. Not 100% , but 90% detection rate. Went through th...

First meet-up with little one...

5 weeks 5 days @ Dr Hii's Women Clinic First time meeting this little one. So tiny, look like an embryo. Mixed feeling of happiness and loneliness... Single moms out there going through this, I feel you. At the clinic, you will feel a strike of loneliness, wishing the father of this little one was there to see what you both created. Especially when you see other mummies coming into the clinic with their husbands, in couples..... And that's what makes you feel lonelier and upset. STOP right there. Listen. If a guy is heartless enough to walk away after he impregnated you, he's not worth thinking about. Any man with a heart in this world would know that a pregnant woman is someone who needs the man the MOST. So if he is inhuman and irresponsible to abandoned the cause of what he did, then you and your little one will definitely be better off without this kind of beast. Your child needs a loving, caring, supportive and responsible father, not a heartless, inhuman and irrespons...
